IHO is the most important worldwide organization of harmonica players. Created in 1985 by Peter Janssen (Holland), it gathers national entities, such as France Harmonica, and regularly sets up via those national organizations big harmonica Championships / Festivals in the world.
Following the decease of its former president John Walton, which occured in 2001, the IHO is still being restructured, according to its statutes. The members of the IHO Board still active are:
Jean Labre remains "roving ambassador" for the IHO; the last mission he was untrusted with by John Walton was to represent the IHO at the 2001 Atsugi International Festival in Japan.
